Pat Madden

Back to Song Leaders Page

Pat Madden's rich alto voice has enlivened the area folk music scene for 20 plus years, often lending support to an array of local and national causes. As a member of the popular trio, Second Opinion, she has been a spirited presence, reflecting the Celtic claim made upon her by a musical Irish clan.

These days, Pat is singing with Sally Potter, also of Second Opinion, and they released a new CD in the fall of 2005, "It's About Time."

Madden remembers a childhood where any combination of relatives and friends would gather around a piano, whether in someone's living room or someone's restaurant. The harmonies were full, the songs were endless. A singing festival? Pat is right at home.

Workshops

Show Tunes with John Bragle / 12:20-1:20
We Have Often Walked Down This Street Before, allowing our hearts to be filled with The Sound of Music, anticipating the magic of Some Enchanted Evening, knowing that the next day we'll feel that we Could Have Danced (or sung) All Night.  Whether we're in East Lansing or Oklahoma, giving Iowa a Try or sailing in the South Pacific, singing the timeless songs of Broadway together makes life feel like a
Cabaret.  We won't need 76 Trombones to send us Over the Rainbow.
Impossible Dream?  Hardly! Come sing with us, we'll create Memories.
Bragle and Madden will Put On the Ritz but the spotlight will be on you!

Killarney to Milarkey with John Bragle / 1:40 - 2:40
When Irish Eyes are Smiling, it's usually because they're reflecting the joy of singing.  During this hour, friends, colleagues and musical conspirators John Bragle and Pat Madden will lead you in Irish song.  We'll explore everything from ballads to bawdy drinking  songs-from serious to sentimental and from humor to harmony.   Among  others, we'll sing Danny Boy, Cockles and Mussels, Whiskey You're the Devil, The Galway Races and The Night Pat Murphy Died.  Bring an empty glass to use as a prop; you can swill it or cry in it...either way, we'll have a great time singing our tribute to the Emerald Isle.
