Over
forty years ago, the whole world came to know the music of John,
Paul, George and Ringo. Today there is another group on the Beatle
tribute trail. Dressed in either their black suits or Sgt. Pepper
garb, the YellowSub Marines perform with the passion of the Beatles’ early
days.
The band covers many of the hits of both eras. Curtis Remington sings and plays
lead and rhythm guitar on his black Rickenbacker. Mid Michigan folk hero, Wally
Pleasant was inducted into the YellowSub Marines to play lead guitar and sing,
by George. The “pleasant” one is also a solo artist with several
CD's to his credit. (Visit his website @ www.wallypleasant.com)
On the violin shaped bass guitar is Russ Kalso. Besides his cheerful on-stage
presence, Russ rounds out the familiar Beatle harmonies. Von Fierke plays his
Ludwig’s with Beatlesque vitality. “Vingo” also sings lead
on nearly half the tunes. What brought them together was the music. What keeps
them going is the smile on the faces of Beatle fans everywhere. “And with
a love like that, you know you should be glad”.
